About Public Holidays in DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo observes Independence Day (June 30, from Belgium in 1960) alongside Parents' Day (August 1) and Martyrs of Independence Day (January 4), the latter commemorating 1959 anti-colonial protests in Kinshasa. Given the country's vast size and past conflicts, national holidays are among the few dates observed uniformly across all provinces.
