Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information HolidaysThisYear ("we", "us", "this Site") collects, how it's used and shared, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who visits or uses this Site. By using this Site, you agree to the practices described below.

Feedback data: if you use the feedback tool, we collect the star rating and optional message you submit, stored via an anonymous Firebase session. We don't require your name or email to leave feedback, and we don't knowingly collect any personal information through it.

Server and log data: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information for every visit, such as IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and pages visited. We use this only in aggregate, to keep the Site running reliably and secure — we don't use it to identify individual visitors.

We do not currently require account registration to use this Site, and we do not collect names, physical addresses, or payment information.

This Site itself sets only one piece of browser storage: your light/dark theme choice, saved in local storage on your device. It isn't a tracking cookie, expires only when you clear your browser data, and is never sent to us or any third party.

As described below, third-party advertising and analytics services — if and when we enable them — set their own cookies that are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

This Site does not currently display advertising. We intend to use Google AdSense in the future to support the cost of running this Site. This section describes how that works so you know what to expect once ads are enabled.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this Site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and other sites on the Internet. Google may also collect information about your device (such as your IP address and browser type) to detect invalid traffic and to measure ad performance.

We use the information described above to operate, maintain, and improve the Site, to respond to feedback, to keep the Site secure, and — once enabled — to support advertising that funds the Site. We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use it for any purpose beyond running this Site.

We share information only with the service providers that help us run this Site, including Firebase/Google Cloud (hosting and the feedback tool) and, in the future, Google AdSense (advertising) and/or Google Analytics. These providers process data on our behalf, under their own privacy and security commitments, and may process or store data outside your country of residence.

We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, and rely on Firebase's security infrastructure to help keep it safe. No method of transmission or storage over the Internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

You can clear your browser's local storage at any time to remove your saved theme preference. If you've submitted feedback and want it deleted, contact us and we'll remove it. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and — once advertising is enabled — opt out of personalized ads as described above.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data — such as the right to access, correct, or delete it, or to object to certain processing — under laws like the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including before enabling advertising or analytics for the first time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
