                          About Public Holidays in Eritrea

Eritrea's Independence Day (May 24, 1993) followed a 30-year armed struggle against Ethiopia, one of the longest independence wars in modern African history, and remains the country's most significant holiday. Both Christian and Muslim holidays are nationally recognized given a roughly even population split between the two faiths.
