                          About Public Holidays in Uzbekistan

                          Uzbekistan issues a new presidential decree each year bridging most fixed holidays that land near the weekend into a longer break by adding an adjacent working day as a holiday - sometimes recovering the lost work time by reassigning a different Saturday as a working day instead. Eid al-Fitr is a single day, immediately followed by the three-day Navruz, while Eid al-Adha runs four days - a genuinely different balance between the two Islamic holidays than most of the region.
